Ashland Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
September 29, 2021
Construction of upgrades and improvements to the Ashland Water Treatment Plant is being financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The project is located at 718 Stuckey Bottom Rd, Hartsville, SC 29550.
The Clean Water SRF program is administered by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State of South Carolina. This project includes installing a ground water storage tank, two booster pumps, and an emergency generator at the site of the existing Ashland Water Treatment Plant. These upgrades will provide additional water storage and emergency power should electrical power fail due to weather related or mechanical issues. The addition of the storage will also decrease the demand on the other two existing water treatment plants in the system. These upgrades will benefit the water supply in Darlington County, and parts of Florence and Lee Counties. Clean Water SRF programs operate around the country to provide states and communities the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources.
