EPA Lead and Copper Rule

In 1991 the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) published a regulation to control lead and copper in our drinking water. This regulation is known as the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR). Since 1991 the LCR has undergone some revisions. Earlier this year the EPA issued the final rule requiring the drinking water systems across the country to ID and replace lead pipes. The LCRI (Lead and Copper Rule Improvements) requires us to take action to protect people from lead exposure in water and to replace lines, if needed.
